White printing, white pull printing
Printing "white" that cannot be expressed with standard CMYK full-color four-color inks.
White printing can express "white," which cannot be represented with the usual CMYK full-color four-color inks. White can be used as an accent color in designs, depending on the combination with materials and full-color inks. White underprinting means printing white first in the areas where the desired color will be printed. The ink has transparency, so when printed on a white substrate, it can be printed in its original color, but when printed on transparent materials, it may appear see-through like cellophane, or it may print in metallic colors on gold or silver materials. To prevent color mixing with the substrate, white ink with hiding power is printed before the desired color. By printing the desired color over this white ink, some degree of color mixing can be prevented. Dark colors like black can appear black without a white base, but for lighter colors like pink, yellow, or light blue, a white underprint is necessary.
